I partner with B2B/enterprise-focused companies on a full-time, fractional, or contract basis to solve complex product and business challenges. My work spans strategy, discovery, execution, and enablement, adapting to where your organization needs the most leverage right now.
At the core of my approach is structured listening: a disciplined way of learning that turns conversations into insight you can act on.
Structured listening is the practice of asking the right questions—carefully designed to avoid bias—and capturing responses in a way that supports both qualitative insight and quantitative analysis.
I listen across the system:
Leadership: What are we trying to accomplish? What makes it hard? Where are decisions stuck?
Engineering & architecture: Where are we today? What's possible tomorrow?
Sales & customer success: What do we already know about this customer? Where are deals won, lost, or slowed?
Users & buyers: What's working well? What’s frustrating, inefficient, or fragile? What workarounds exist—and why?
The outcome isn’t just a series of good conversations. It’s validated understanding: patterns, tradeoffs, and evidence that support confident decision-making.
Listening isn’t a “soft skill.” When done rigorously, it unlocks clarity across strategy, execution, and go-to-market. Below are examples of the types of decisions and outcomes I help organizations achieve.
Corporate strategy: Clarify goals and success criteria. Surface hidden assumptions and unresolved questions. Align leaders and teams around a shared narrative, with communication tailored to each level of the organization.
Roadmaps: Design roadmap processes, templates, and content that balance ambition with feasibility. Support multi-year, annual, or quarterly planning, and help teams translate strategy into executable sprint-level plans.
Advisory panels: Design and operationalize multi-customer advisory programs, including audience definition, session structure, goals, and collateral. Coach teams on facilitation techniques that create value for both customers and the business.
Research design & execution: Design end-to-end research programs with customers and prospects: objectives, recruitment, discussion guides, analytics, and synthesis. Execute the research directly, or train internal teams to run high-quality research independently.
Product/Market fit: Identify barriers to market pull through customer research and close analysis of sales and marketing workflows. Recommend strategic changes to improve adoption, retention, and deal momentum.
Positioning & messaging: Use research with buyers, users, and competitive offerings to refine messaging so it better reflects how customers evaluate value and make purchasing decisions.
Business workflows: Observe real-world interactions, analyze data, and interview participants to understand how information and decisions flow across complex systems. Recommend improvements that reduce friction, lower costs, and improve retention.
Information design: Partner with subject-matter experts to understand domain complexity, and with information consumers to uncover misunderstandings and inefficiencies. Propose clearer structures, artifacts, and handoffs.
You may already have a capable Product team, but research, strategy, and operational rigor are hard to master through courses or books alone.
I work hands-on with Product Managers and leaders who want to level up their skills in customer research, strategic thinking, and roadmap development. Engagements range from targeted coaching to embedded mentorship, with the goal of leaving your team stronger and more self-sufficient.
I’m intentionally flexible in how I work. Engagements may be:
Fractional or interim leadership
Project-based or contract delivery
Advisory, coaching, or execution-focused
If you’re facing ambiguity, ambitious goals, or stalled decisions and want a pragmatic, research-driven partner, I’m open to exploring how we might work together.
